Leave Your Ego at the Door

Egos are a dangerous thing

The majority of the time, they’re only hurting us and holding us back. If you’ve found yourself stuck in a place of opportunity – endlessly looking at options, chances are your ego is protecting you from success.

I know it sounds strange that your ego would protect you from success, but it’s true. Our Egos only stand in our way, making it hard for us to make decisions. 

If we can’t make a decision, we end up stuck, in that place of opportunity seeking. We don’t move forward and it seems like things will keep staying the same. But you and I aren’t built to stay in that place.

Evolutionary hunters

As Evolutionary Hunters, we need to go on the hunt, make things happen, and do it all over again. We need to feel like we’re in momentum, making progress, and moving things forward. If we don’t, we’re miserable. It feels like we’re failing everywhere.

The solution? Leave your ego at the door.

Commit to something and go after it with everything you have. Once you do, you will move your ego out of the way and go forward fast.

If you have commitment issues, now is the perfect time to work on those.

Commit to an outcome, any outcome. Because choosing an outcome is better than staying in a place where you haven’t made a choice. At least you are trying rather than staying stuck.

Once you pick an outcome, create a scoreboard for perspective to confirm the momentum you are in. This is a game-changer. You need to be able to see where you are going and track your progress along the way. Otherwise, you are just moving forward blindly… and that’s no good for anyone.

After choosing your outcome and creating a scoreboard, create accountability for yourself and get the help you need. Know your role in whatever process or project you are moving forward.

When you stay in the world of evaluating opportunities, your ego is keeping you in a land of safety, but you’re stuck.

But when you’re willing to commit to an outcome, find a scoreboard and set it up, get clear on what you’re going to do, and what help you need – you as an Evolutionary Hunter transform.

You step into the reality of who you are.

No More Lies

“Fake it until you make it.”

You’ve probably heard this phrase more times than you can count. Maybe you’ve even said it to yourself…This phrase is one of the most toxic phrases thrown around in the entrepreneurial world today. So please do me a favor and stop saying it.

Enough is enough. Stop faking it!

“Fake it until you make it” is the garbage we’ve been told. That’s not the way to live life or get ahead. Why hide the truth? Why put up a front and use all of our energy to lie about where we really are? Faking it takes way more effort than actually putting in the work and being transparent.

Because here’s the thing – when you fabricate things, you are putting a wall up between yourself and the people around you who could actually help you. You drive these people away. Not to mention…the truth always comes out eventually.

But on the contrary, when you’re authentic and grounded…people will view you in an entirely different way. You will get ahead much faster and gain respect from those around you.

Being vulnerable might make you feel small, but the way it makes you look is the complete opposite. You actually start to look stronger and more capable.

When you show vulnerability and speak your truth, people can relate to you. They will connect with you on an entirely different level.

So no more faking it.

It’s time to get real about where you are and what you need to move forward.

Simplicity is the Key to Success

Success creates deficits and growth creates complexity.

As your business grows and scales, things are inevitably going to become more complicated. It’s not like you hit a certain point of success, and everything becomes magically easier.

I know that’s probably not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth.

Things are going to continue getting harder, but if you do things the right way – they can also become simpler. Expect that the success you create will bring deficits, and as you grow, it will create complexity.

But at the same time, don’t make the growth period harder than it needs to be. Easier said than done, I know. But it is possible.

The key is simplicity. Simplicity in messaging, execution, and delivery. Ask yourself, how simple can I make my business? How easy can I make things on myself, my team, and my clients? Once you master simplicity, everything in your business will change.

Things will become much easier, you will eliminate pressure and noise, and you will finally be able to scale at the rate you’ve always wanted to.

You Can’t Hide How You Feel

Let’s face it – there is no such thing as the perfect career. As good as it sounds, thinking that way isn’t realistic. Nobody wins all the time.

As an entrepreneur, you are going to make mistakes. So give yourself some grace and let yourself off the hook.

Would you be surprised if I told you that the majority of challenges over my career have come from dealing with people?

It’s painful for me to admit this now, but I used to hire for skillset and experience only. I didn’t look at if I actually liked the person I was hiring and if I actually wanted to be around them.

I thought I had to have the person who looked best on paper and that I just had to suck up my feelings.

Man, I was wrong…

But from that experience, here’s what I can tell you now – you don’t have to hire people that you don’t like being around.
You don’t need to make sacrifices and compromises to get the help that you need.

The team members who I’ve struggled with in the past have always been the ones that I never felt comfortable with from the beginning.

I can also tell you this – you can’t hide the energy with which you communicate. You can’t hide your feelings no matter how hard you try.

If you have people on your team who you don’t like and don’t feel excited about, you’re not going to grow with the momentum that you should.

People on your team are going to feel how you feel, so surround yourself with people that you feel good about.
